JISC Developer Happiness Days: good for developers,
good for education
Inspired by the fun, creative
barcamp
culture, JISC's Developer
Happiness Days is taking the barcamp concept a step
further. It is a completely new kind of event for the
educational community, specifically designed to benefit
not just developers but to have a positive impact on the
wider higher education world.
Good for developers…
Developer Happiness Days has been planned and built by a
core group within the educational developer community,
with funding from JISC, as an opportunity for developers
to:
- Network with colleagues from different research areas
and different countries
- Meet and work with developers from outside the education sector
- Learn new languages and techniques
- Develop existing skills
- Find out about community-specific projects
- Share knowledge through a variety of innovative, interactive
events
Good for education…
Developer Happiness Days will produce tangible benefits
for the education community. The value of bringing
together an international, cross-sectoral group of top
educational software developers to collaborate over four
days to develop tools that will be useful to higher
education is immeasurable.
In addition, the event will produce:
- High quality documented software
- Dissemination of the outcomes through web 2.0 channels
and an official report
- A wider pool of potential developers for JISC projects
- Collaboration across sectors and countries
